Weigh a coil and check whether it has the full amount of copper. Underweight coils are a common sign of low-quality or fake wire.
Is My Wire Genuine? Coil Weight & Copper Checkerکیا میری تار اصلی ہے؟ کوائل وزن اور تانبا چیکر
Underweight coils and thin strands are the most common tricks in the wire market. Check your coil’s weight and strand size against what it should be.کم وزن کوائل اور پتلی تاریں مارکیٹ میں عام دھوکا ہیں۔ اپنے کوائل کا وزن اور تار کی موٹائی درست معیار سے ملائیں۔
Expected weights are calculated from nominal strand size, copper density 8.89 g/cm³ and typical PVC insulation thickness. Insulation thickness and compound density vary between manufacturers, so total weight is shown as a range. The strand check is the more reliable test.
Frequently asked questions
How can I check if electric wire is original?
Check four things: the print on the insulation (manufacturer name, size and standard), the coil length, the coil weight, and the strand count and strand thickness. Underweight coils and thinner strands than the marked size are the most common problems.
How much copper is in a 7/.029 coil?
7/.029 has about 2.98 mm² of copper. That is roughly 27 g of copper per metre, or about 2.4 kg of copper in a 90 m coil, before insulation.
How do I measure strand thickness?
Strip a short piece, separate one strand and measure it with a micrometer or digital vernier. 0.029 inch is 0.737 mm. Count all strands in the conductor too – 7/.029 must have 7 strands.
Why does a lighter coil matter?
Less copper means higher resistance, so the wire runs hotter, wastes more electricity and can be a fire risk at the current it is supposed to carry.
